The caution tape has been removed from Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta as of noon today with locals.
People on the Gold Coast can dine in at restaurants or cafes have visitors over gather outdoors and attend public venues. Surf Lifesaving also said over 70 rips have been spotted along local beaches. Transient rips vary in location and occurrence making them hard to predict and unlike topographically controlled fixed or semi-permanent rips they are believed to be controlled by surf zone hydrodynamics rather than beach and surf zone morphology. All beaches from 4th Avenue at Burleigh to the Seaway have been closed.
